Jane Smiley is the author of numerous novels, including A Year at the Races, Horse Heaven, Moo, Good Faith, and A Thousand Acres, as well as a critically acclaimed biography of Charles Dickens. She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for A Thousand Acres and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2001. She lives in California.
