Doris Lessing

Doris Lessing was born Doris May Tayler in Persia (now Iran) on October 22, 1919. Among her major works are: The Golden Notebook (1962), Martha Quest, A Proper Marriage, The Four-Gated City (1969), The Fifth Child (1988) and Mara and Dann: An Adventure (1999). She received the Nobel Prize for Literature 2007.
